Don't forget, I don't like the current gas prices any more than you do. Don't shoot the messenger.
Perhaps the following tips of "How to stretch your gasoline mileage" can help...
Keep Your Tires Inflated correctly. If tires are under inflated they put so much extra drag on
the engine that you'll use up to 6% more gasoline Avoid high speeds. Slower speed yields more miles per gallon. Get regular Tune-Ups. A complete tune up, including new spark plugs and ignition wires can save the average driver up to 175 gallons a year.

Replace Filters. Check all pollution control devices regularly. A dirty air filter alone can cost you as much as 80 gallons of gasoline a year. Don't gun the engine to warm up while it's cold. The automatic choke keeps it on an extra rich diet and turn off
the engine while you're waiting for someone. One minute of idling uses more gasoline than it takes to restart your engine. Drive with a steady foot. Many drivers tap the gas pedal when they drive. Tests prove this can reduce fuel economy and when leaving a stoplight accelerate moderately.
Use air condition only when it is needed. Air conditioning uses almost a gallon and a half more gasoline in every tank fill.
